I have probably made more than a few good decisions in my life (hopefully). A lot of decisions have been so-so, and wouldn't have hurt or helped no matter which way I went.
But when I bought the little above-ground swimming party from a departing missionary two years ago, I made one of those GREAT decisions. For about $300, I bought hundreds of hours of entertainment for the girls! They push me to get it set up in the spring, and we'll keep it up until the very last moment.
It isn't very big, only 15 feet across, 3 feet deep, maybe. But it is enough for them to swim, float, and soak. They invent games, pretend to be mermaids, and get tanned like a Southern Cal beach bum. They are in heaven!
We may listen to roosters across the fence, scoop apples from the pool that have plummeted from the nearby trees, and get a wisp of outhouse odor that can curl your toes....but we have a pool! When it is 100 degrees, we can soak. When the kids are bored, we can kick them out of the house. And when our friends need some entertainment, we just tell them to come on over!

PS: Now I just need to get a few more swim goggles or a snorkel set and we start training for the Red Sea!
